As a student of European history, David Cohen was inspired by the traditional patron/builder relationship in which a wealthy landowner and nobleman worked with a master builder to create grand residences and estates.  When he founded The I.Grace Company Comissioned Private Residences Inc. in 1988 his goal was to establish an updated version of that relationship.

The I.Grace Company’s success at developing systems and controls specifically suited to high-end residential fast-track construction management led to its rapid growth and expansion.  Success in New York and the tri-state area led to success elsewhere and The I.Grace Company currently works throughout the United States, with home base offices on both coasts.

The success of The I.Grace Company led to a natural partnership with long time friend and colleague Richard Cameron to found Ariel - The Art Of Building, LLC in 2005.  The combination of David and Richard’s vast knowledge and experience allows for a more integrated approach in which the designer and builder work together from the inception of a project.

David serves on the boards of several organizations which support architectural education and historic preservation, as well as a number of community and charitable groups.  David divides his time between New York and Los Angeles, keeping true to his New York roots, while still managing to spend plenty of time with his family, currently residing in Los Angeles.
